With the new LSD door hinges the door is opened outwards as usual. Then it can be opened easily upwards with the support of the gas spring. Because of an exactly adjustable mechanism this action is secured. Closing the door in the opposite way is also secured and uncomplicated due to the patent pending "Magic Stick™" technology. The "Magic Stick™" secures itself into the socket and stops the door from dropping any further from the closing position. It is centering and adjusting the door before it will be locked in the original door lock.

LSD Doors in Detail

All LSD-Doors fittings "Made in Germany" are impressive due to their 3-dimensional adjustment, the simple assembly into original bolt holes and its perfect fitting accuracy. With guided roller system (GRS) a precise opening and closing of the door is guaranteed. By means of a roller, the swing arm of the LSD hinge over the entire path of movement is a guided fix. Tailored to suit the door weight, the gas pressure spring holds the fully open door in position. In everyday life, proved: By the LSD hinges the doors open first, up to an angle of 30°, around the vertical axis of the C-profile, then it can be opened easily upward with the support of the gas spring. Because of an exactly adjustable mechanism, this action is secured.

  2. M.A.R.A. Technology - Multiple - Axis - Rotational - Assembly (Adjustable aluminum Swivel connection in C-Form)
    • The (C-profile) aluminum pivot arm connection attached to the base plate can be repositioned in a longitudinal direction and is the replacement for the standard door hinge series.
    • The door first opens out as usual, up to an angle of 30°, around the vertical axis of the C-profile (depending on the vehicle model).
    • In the CNC machined pivot bearing seat there is a special ball bearing in the horizontal axis, by means of which the door is then pivoted upward in LSD style.
  3. GRS (Guided Roller System)
    • The applications LSD Doors GRS + (Guided Roller System) ensure that the entire motion sequence of the pivot arm is guided in every position by the 2 dimensional adjustment option of the roller bearing, in order to guarantee the precise opening and closing of the door. In addition to the guided roller system a locking device on the top which locks the pivot arm into position. This upper adjustment guarantees an additional stabilization of the opened door.
    • The applications LSD GRS (Guided Roller System) ensure that the entire motion sequence of the pivot arm is guided in every position by the 2-dimensional adjustment option of the roller bearing, in order to guarantee the precise opening and closing of the door.
  4. Patented safety locking system for side impacts
    • When the door is closed to the original lock, an interlocking connection is created between the LSD base plate and the pivot arm.
  5. "Magic Stick™" technology
    • When the door is closed, at the end of the downward motion the "Magic Stick™" positions itself in a vertically aligned, sound absorbing polyamide seat.
    • The stabilizer can be adjusted in length to adapt to the 3-dimensional adjustment options.
    • The seating for the stabilizer has the necessary depth adjustment, ensuring that the door is also neatly closed and airtight.

LSD gas springs in Detail

What you can expect from an LSD-gas pressure spring

For each application, a specially tuned gas pressure spring is developed, which supports the movement of the door when opening and closing, thus reducing the effort. A LSD gas spring works in practice by the same basic principles as a vehicle shock absorber - but with one crucial difference: It is the outdoor temperature *.

It is, for example, in summer much easier to open a trunk lid as in the winter. The reduction of outside temperature cools the nitrogen inside the damping chamber, which can be "viscous" gas and reduces the force of the gas spring. In the summer, it is the opposite. The gas spring is designed individually for each vehicle-specific solution. At elevated or reduced weight of the door, such as due to additional equipment or subsequently been fitted with accessories such as Speakers, and replacement of the liner by example lighter carbon fiber covers, etc., it may be necessary to have to use a stronger or weaker gas spring. These can be ordered separately when LSD-base partner.

* Each vehicle has been tested with a specially tuned gas pressure spring. Condition were original weight of the standard door and a room temperature of about 20 ° C. Side impact test for LSD Style doors

The side crash test experiment has proved it: The patented LSD wing door hinge system offers the best possible safety in a lateral impact. The test was conducted in accordance with the directives applicable to car manufacturers, ECE- R 95, and EU directive 96/27/EEC. The DEKRA Accident Research and Crash Test Centre and has confirmed: The equipment of a vehicle with LSD wing doors provides the required protection and guarantees optimum safety for the occupants. The maximum allowable load values for occupant dummies are even lower.

Optimum safety for the occupants

Installation Basics shown on Nissan 350Z:

Step 1:
Disassemble the swing arm from the chassis plate.
Step 2:
Remove factory door hinge from a pillar and install the LSD chassis plate into original Bolt holes.
Step 3:
Remove factory hinge from door and bolt on LSD swing arm.
Step 4:
Extend your wire harness (if necessary) with supplied extension kit then mate and bolt the swing arm to the LSD chassis plate.
Step 5:
Mount the gas damper and adjust the door to finalize the install.

Welding
After cutting, all welding parts are welded in our own welding shop.
Coating
After welding, the LSD hinges will be powder-coated in our state-of-art coating plant.
Assembly
The nickel-plated fittings and sub-assemblies are assembled, pre-adjusted and tested to ensure that they work properly.
Packing
The door fittings, associated accessories and documentation are foam packed. This enables safe and secure transportation.
Logistic
State-of-the-art logistic procedures ensure that the products pass through all the elements of the production process as quickly as possible, and normally leave the plant on the day of the order.
